Pool & Tennis Report – May 2015

As I sit and write we are just 20 days away from opening the pool for the 2015 season (Saturday May 16th) and everyone is gearing up for this magical time of year in Blueridge! There is so much to do in this community between swim, tennis and water polo teams, tennis and swim lessons for all ages, or just hanging out at the pool or Beach Park. I am always reminded this time of year how lucky we are to have these programs accessible to us, especially when I start receiving phone calls from people outside the community that want to be involved!!!

The pool has been re-surfaced and we have new lighting! Our pool managers, Tucker and Emily have their full staff hired and the programs are open for signups. The Pool schedule for 2015 is included in this bulletin and posted on the website. Let the countdown begin!!

Swim Lessons: are live and filling up quickly! This year we are not making any major changes to the swim lesson program as things have run very smoothly the last few seasons. For session details please see this bulletin or log on to WWW.Blueridgeseattle.com. Lessons start June 15th!

Swim team: We are very fortunate that Carlos Palacian will return this year for his 9th season with the Blue Ridge Baracuda swim team. This program is robust and building. If you are new to the neighborhood, you will quickly find out, this is the lifeblood of the community during the summer and a great way to meet the community!! If you are interested in learning more, please come to the Parent Intro Night: Thursday, April 30 (7-9pm) at the clubhouse. Also, more info on the swim team, meets, etc in this bulletin and on the website! Thank you in advance to Mary Campbell and Jeff Malick, our swim parent coordinators for all of your work to make this program run smoothly.

WaterPolo: Thor Tyson is returning again this year to coach the Waterpolo team. The team is open to all boys and girls from five to eighteen. Practices start at the end June and games start in August. There are a few kids that are on the swim team and waterpolo team so check it out! For more info, please visit www.seattlesummerwaterpolo.org/blueridge.

Tennis: We are thrilled to announce some exciting improvements to the Blue Ridge Tennis program! This year we’re partnering with the Pros at Tennis Center Sand Point to enhance our Kids Program and build up our Tennis Team. We’re also launching two NEW Adult Programs with Cardio Tennis and Wimbledon Workout!! We’ll offer programs for both beginner and intermediate players and private lessons for Blue Ridge residents ONLY! Our tennis pro’s are Nick Ketcham and Jamie Dieveney. Please see their bios in this bulletin. Lessons start June 22nd. Log on to WWW.Blueridgeseattle.com to register NOW as some of these classes have already filled up!! Thank you Karen Bombino and Jamie Smith, our tennis coordinators for all of your work, creative ideas, and dedication to this program.

In summary, we have been busy building and refining these programs. We are looking forward to another great spring/summer in Blue Ridge. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with comments or feedback! See you at the clubhouse!
