Blue Ridge Tennis
Welcome back Tennis Fans!! The Blue Ridge tennis program is making preparations for the upcoming summer season. Clay Dudley will be leading the junior camps and tennis team again for 2020 and we are excited about his continued leadership. The 2020 schedule mirrors last year’s schedule very closely with an increase in the adult classes due to high demand!
Blue Ridge Club has a registration system for its tennis program courtesy of Tennis Management Group (TMG). The system is provided by Club Automation, an online, cloud-based system that will allow members to register for kids’ tennis camps, adult programs, social events and reserve tennis courts. More information and instructions: Tennis Registration
Junior Camps are offered for kids 4-17 years old and for levels from beginners to intermediate levels. Camps are four days a week and pack a ton of fun instruction and games for all players. Camp groupings are as follows and you can click on the PDF here for more information:
• Pee Wees = 3-5 year olds beginners (parent or guardian required on court)
• Red Ball = 6-8 year old beginners
• Orange Ball = 9-10 year old beginner to intermediate players
• Hitters = 11-17 year old beginner to intermediate players
• BR Team = 11+ years of age; intermediate+ players that will compete
Adult tennis programs at Blue Ridge offer something for everyone. From the complete beginner to the seasoned intermediate and competitive player, there’s a clinic to cover everyone. Click here for more information found on the adult tennis program PDF.
• Beginner = Cover the basics and get rallying as quickly as possible
• Intermediate = More technique focused class & how to serve effectively
• Doubles Tactics = Learn about formations, positioning, patterns of play & high-percentage tennis
• Cardio Tennis = High-energy that is heavy on pro-fed drills and exercise elements
• Wimbledon Workout = Players Wanted! Intense play-based clinic for intermediate+ players
Private Lessons are available upon request and can be accommodated outside of camp and clinic times. Small groups can also be put together in case camp schedules don’t work out for your junior players. Private Lessons are one of the best ways to improve because of the individual attention and time spent to help improve technical issues. To schedule private lessons, please email Clay to schedule an individual or custom group lesson.
A Note from Tennis Director Clay Dudley
I’m excited to continue working at the Blue Ridge Swim and Tennis Club this summer as your tennis director. I have had a very fun and rewarding four years here working to help build the program. The Blue Ridge community is one of the nicest settings to coach tennis in all of Seattle! Tennis has flourished for the past four years here and it has been great to get to know all of the families and players.
I played tennis throughout high school (Mercer Island) and college (Loyola Marymount University’s club team) absolutely loving the sport. In fact, I love tennis so much that having worked as a junior coach at the Mercer Island Country Club on and off for several years, I decided to become a full-time coach at Tennis Center Sand Point two years ago. As a mechanical engineer, I felt called to return to the courts where my passion really was despite building towards a solid career in ME.
I’m looking forward to helping BR continue to have a strong tennis program and help players of all ages discover how much fun this game really is. I’d love to see an annual tournament for both adults and juniors here at BR. I know there’s enough people to establish a fun event to add to the tennis program. The growth has been phenomenal with more people participating year after year. Let’s have a great summer in 2019 and I will see you on the courts!
