Membership Report – March 2019
Happy March! As spring approaches, we are all starting to get our minds and bodies ready for the neighborhood to come alive in the warmer weather… When the sun comes out and temperatures rise, everyone seems to be out walking their dogs, taking beach strolls, swimming laps at the pool, getting ramped up for swim team and tennis lessons, dusting off those paddle boards and making plans with friends and neighbors for BBQs and general socialization.
For new families, this is such a great time to get out there and meet your neighborhood, get involved. There are so many ways to get involved and get to know your community – sign your kids up for swim team or the tennis program – they are both incredible ways for families to get involved with the community. The annual Easter egg hunt is quickly approaching. There will be a fun adult-only neighborhood party down at the beach park this summer (in lieu of our traditional summer fiesta at the pool) – stay tuned for details – this is an event not to be missed!
Speaking of new families, please give a warm welcome to Hana & Ion Vasilian and their daughter Coco on 12th Ave NW.
Finally, thank you to our amazing volunteers who braved the snowstorm a few weeks ago to attend our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. It was a smaller group than usual, but we had a fun evening socializing and mingling amongst our fellow neighbors who really make this neighborhood as special as it is. The highlight of the evening was announcing our Volunteer of the Year award to Jamie Smith ! In addition to stepping up and volunteering in some capacity or another to just about every event Blue Ridge hosts, Jamie has been co-chair of Oktoberfest for the last several years, has spearheaded Ladies Bunco Night at the clubhouse, is an active participant in Swim Team volunteer needs, and has single handedly managed a partnership with Tennis Center Sand Point and transitioned our tennis program over the last few years to an outstanding Blue Ridge institution. She is an unstoppable force, always has a glowing smile on her face, and can be counted on to step up in any capacity for the greater good of her neighbors and this community.
Thank you to each and every one of our dedicated volunteers. It takes a village and we are so blessed to have so many people willing to step up and help. And we hope to see some new faces this year!
