Grounds and Facilities Report – May 2018
Friends and Neighbors –
The 2018 work party was a great success, thank you so much to all those who volunteered their time and efforts. With over 50 people participating, we were able to accomplish quite a number of projects including planting at both the Pool and Woodbine park, painting picnic tables and benches at the Beach Park, and re-hanging the tennis wind nets. Special thanks are in order to those who ‘captained’ the different projects, including, Mike and Linda Brooks , Andrea Durbin and Ryan Brunette and Candis Litsey for coordinating a delicious and well-deserved lunch. Extra special thanks are due to Michelle Morgan – for all her efforts in getting things coordinated and set up ahead of time – and the entire Beach Park/Play Structure soil-removal crew, a project that seemed to grow in scope with each shovel full. Notwithstanding that we were not able to finish, the amount of dirt removed was very helpful to the cause and we will work through completion of the task shortly.
I am also happy to report that the Killdeer eggs were successfully hatched and the nest/young birds was relocated (on their own accord) to the far south end of the park. Since the birds are still young and cannot yet fly, probably best to keep dogs on leash and use discretion in the area, but expect their maturation to happen soon, at which point we will be removing the reminder signs and returning to normal operations.
With the weather looking to improve, looking forward to seeing folks out and about around the neighborhood.
