Grounds Report – February 2018

Greetings friends and neighbors, and thank you for the opportunity to give back to this wonderful community through board participation. As most of you know, I am replacing the very large ‘shoes’ of Mike Brooks, who did an outstanding job in all facets of this role over the previous 6 years. As such, I appreciate your patience as I have been learning the ropes!
While many of us were challenged by the various City of Seattle projects that occurred, 2017 was also filled with many accomplishments most notably, the completion of the Clubhouse repair and remodel. Completed in early Summer, the project not only addressed the failing exterior siding issue, but did so in a way that has enhanced the street appeal and desirability of the building for years to come. While many individuals lent time and expertise to the process, special thanks to Brooke Walker and Janet Wallace who tirelessly attended committee planning meetings and to Michelle Morgan, who very adeptly managed an active construction site while simultaneously opening the pool for the Season.
Looking forward into the coming year, projects include repair/completion of the pool gutter and decking systems and additional painting of the facility. The end result will be further enhanced by a much-needed replacement of pool furniture.
In addition to planned projects, mark your calendars now for our annual work party, scheduled to coincide with Earth Day, Sunday April 22 nd. Several projects are already under consideration for this day, including painting the pool sheds, assembling new furniture and replacing the wood chips for the play structure at the beach park. Historically, this has been both productive towards improving our shared environment and a wonderful opportunity for community planning. If you have additional ideas, please feel free to email Michelle at blueridgemanager@live.com.
