Pool & Tennis Programs – February 2018

2017 and the Holidays are behind us so it’s time to prepare for the 2018 Spring/Summer seasons. The Pool opens this year on Sat May 12th!!!!

I am delighted to announce, that we will have our 3 managers back this season in their same roles: Rosie McDonagh (Pool Manager), Luke Ilgenfritz (Assistant Pool Manager) and Jessica Carey (Lesson Coordinator).

Rosie and Luke are in the process of hiring their staff for the season. They have many returning guards this year, but also need to round out the team with new people. If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard, please send a resume and cover letter to brpoolmanager@gmail.com by March 1st. They plan to have the staff in place March 15th.

Carlos Palacian, our swim coach will also be conducting his annual Lifeguard certification program. See below for more details and sign-up info.

We plan to have all lessons (tennis and swim) live for signup this year by April 1. We will have the program info live on the Blue Ridge website by Febuary 15th!

The Blueridge swim team is growing! If you are a new to the neighborhood and/or have children ages 4 thru high school seniors interested in joining the swim team, please join us at the clubhouse for the New Parent Night on Thursday April 25th from 7pm-9pm. The season runs from May – August. We have a thriving program and it’s a great way to connect to the neighborhood.

This year we will host 3 home meets along with Greater Seattle Summer Swim League (SSSL) pre-qualifying “Northerns”.

Other Key swim team Dates include:
May 9th Ice Cream Social (clubhouse)-6:30pm-8:30pm
May 10th Swim Suit Fitting (clubhouse) – 6:00pm-8:00pm
June 26th – Pancake Breakfast (clubhouse) – 9:00am-10:00am
This wraps up my 2nd year term. I have now served on the board for 6 years in this “Pool and Tennis Programs” role (which was created in 2011). I have really enjoyed working with all of the paid staff and volunteers that are a part of the Programs, and feel like I have moved things forward. I am also looking forward to passing the baton to my successor Brooke Walker, who can offer a fresh perspective and new ideas to continue develop these great Blue Ridge community programs. Please send any questions/comments to us at tennispoolchair@blueridgeseattle.com.

We look forward to seeing you at the clubhouse.
