Pool & Tennis Report – June 2016

Summer is here! It has been great to see so many of you up at the clubhouse. The weather has been sensational so far.The programs (tennis and swim) are filling up quickly and the swim team has already started practices!

The first swim meet is right around the corner June 23rd against Wedgewood at Blue Ridge!! We will have a total of 4 home meets this year…so mark your calendars to come by and cheer on the barracuda swimmers!!

Session 1 and 2 for swim lessons are open.  Check the schedule online for more details.

Our Lead Pro, Nick Ketchum is back with Tennis Center Sandpoint again this year for the second year of programming.  We still have openings in most classes, but some are already at their full capacity.  Adults…if you missed cardio tennis last year, I would highly recommend signing up for a session and checking it out.  Great music, awesome workout…..all skill levels can participate.

As Janet mentioned in her article this month, we are in the process at looking at making improvements to the clubhouse and pool area.  The time is now to start thinking and even dreaming about how we can upgrade these assets to make them even more of a destination for all of us.  Please feel free to let us know your thoughts as we would love to hear your voice.

As always, please feel free to contact me directly with any questions, comments or concerns about any of the programs ….tennispoolchair@blueridgeseattle.com

Thanks so much.

Water Polo News –  Thor Tyson
Swimming has begun. That must mean that the start of water polo season is close behind! We would love to have your kids join us. All the details on the team are athttp://seattlesummerwaterpolo.org/blueridge. I wanted to again highlight our two new programs for this year. The first one is perfect for all of you thinking that your summer could not possibly fit in anything else!

Vacation Special – New!

To encourage participation by Blue Ridge members, we are offering a new “Vacationer” membership. This recognizes that many families participate in the swim team then travel extensively in August – our prime season. We have added a Sunday night practice during June and July so that there are three practices a week available during that time. We also will set up a couple of games during that period as well. Those who are gone for two or more weeks in August can join as a “Vacationer” at a reduced rate. This way you get plenty of practices, game opportunities and a chance for your child to feel like part of the team even when missing a fair bit of August. Note that this is only available to Blue Ridge members.

Girls Night – New!

When Blue Ridge Water Polo started in 2001 it was actually dominated by girls. As time passed however the balance shifted to boys to such an extent that it became tough for new girls to feel like they belonged. So, this year we are instituting a regular Girls Night. This will happen on Sundays in late July and the month of August.
