Pool & Tennis Programs April

We are 48 days away from the Pool opening!!!! (Sat May 14th).

I am delighted to have our Pool Manager Tucker Benge back for his 3rd season.  Joining him this year as assistant Pool manager and swim lesson coordinator is Rosie McDonagh.  Rosie has been a part of this program since she was 5 and will be a great compliment to Tucker! They are very excited to get the season underway.  They already have the staff in place! Carlos (swim coach) will be hosting the Lifeguard Certification and training program again this year up at the clubhouse.  Mark your calendar for May 12, 13th, 14th and 21st.  Carlos will be posting details soon.

The Pool schedule for 2016 is live here and the details of the swim lesson program are posted here…Don’t forget to set yourself a reminder for signups.  They go live April 1 for Blue Ridge residents…Don’t wait, spots fill up quickly.

Swim team:

We are very fortunate that Carlos Palacian will return this year for his 10th season with the Blue Ridge Barracuda swim team.  This program is robust and building.   If you are new to the neighborhood, you will quickly find out, this is the lifeblood of the community during the summer and a great way to meet your neighbors!  If you are interested in learning more, please come to the NEW PARENT INTRO Night: Wednesday, April 20 (7-9pm) at the clubhouse.  We will also have the Ice Cream Social Wed May 11th 6:30pm-8:30pm as well as Swim Suit Fitting on Thursday May 12th 6:00pm-8:00pm.  This year we have 4 home meets!  Look forward to seeing you there.

The swim season could not happen without the tireless efforts of our swim parent coordinators.  Thank you in advance to Mary Campbell, Jeff Malick and our newest addition, Sarah Bradley!  See the swim section for meets and other season details!

Tennis:

Nick Ketchum and TCSP (Tennis Center Sandpoint) will be back for their 2nd season.  Based on last years’ success, we made few changes to the kid’s programs, but added some additional adult programs based on demand. We are also working hard to build the team.  Please see this bulletin for session details and log on to WWW.Blueridgeseattle.com to register…. Registration opens April 1st and Lessons start June 20th.  Please remember, Blue Ridge Residents get priority, so don’t wait!

Pool Report – Tucker Benge

Hello Blue Ridge, I’m happy to be back for my third season as pool manager along with Rosie McDonagh as assistant pool manager and we cannot wait to see all of you back at the pool this summer!

We want to encourage the new families in the neighborhood, that might be on the fence about signing up for swim team, to go ahead and join as it is one of the best ways to get to know other families, as well as for your swimmers to meet other kids in the neighborhood!

If you have kids that might be a little too young or you just want their swimming technique to improve a bit more, our Swim Lesson program is a fantastic option. Session 1 (June 13-17) and Session 2 (June 20-July 1) will be open for registration on April 1st at www.blueridgeseattle.com.

Another great alternative to Swim Team is the Blue Ridge Water Polo team which is a growing program and is always looking for more members. You can find more information at www.seattlesummerwaterpolo.org/blueridge.

We are very excited for the upcoming season and we want to make it the best yet. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at brpoolmanager@gmail.com!

Tucker Benge, Pool Manager
Tucker grew up one block away from the Blue Ridge Pool and has spent every summer around the water since he was a child. He began swimming for the Blue Ridge Swim Team when he was 6 and played select soccer for Emerald City F.C. and later Seattle United. Over the past 9 summers Tucker has been a Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, Swim Coach and this is his third summer as Pool Manager. In the off-season, Tucker attends Western Washington University where he studies Accounting and Management Information Systems.
Rosie McDonagh, Assistant Pool Manager
Hi I’m Rosie! I’ve been swimming for the Blue Ridge swim team since I was five and graduated this past summer. This is my fourth year working at the pool as a lifeguard and swim instructor, and this year I am very excited to be the Lessons Coordinator, Assistant Pool Manager, and especially a swim team coach! I just finished my first year at Santa Clara University in California and am currently studying Business, but I am hoping to transfer to Biomedical Engineering this year. For high school, I attended Holy Names Academy where I swam for 2 years with Coach Carlos and eventually focused on running track and cross country. I can’t wait for a great summer!
