With summer over and Fall already upon us, I want put a big shout out to our two Event Interns Devin DeGagne and Caroline Healey who spent the summer working on all of our summer programs, organizing our event closet, getting all the event documents up to date, and generally keeping events moving along during our busy time. Thank you both for your service! While the internship might be over, we look forward to seeing both of them at many of our future programs and especially for Caroline, who is still finishing up her last year of high school, a place with the events committee running our movie nights!
November 13 movie night will be showing the summer hit Inside Out. If you didn’t get a chance to see it in the theatres this past summer, you won’t want to miss this one! It’s a favorite of both kids and adults…and don’t forget to bring your boxes of Kleenex! You’ll need them! Movie begins at 6:30pm and babysitting is available for $20 per child. Feel free to sign up to drop your kid off at firstname.lastname@example.org. But families are all invited to stay and enjoy the pizza (gluten free available!), popcorn and movie fun up at the Clubhouse. If you’re available to help with set up or tear down, Caroline would sure appreciate it! Set up begins at 6pm. Come dressed in jammies, bring your pillows and blankets and have a fun night in with all your neighbors!
Our annual New Resident Coffee and Tea was a great success in no small part to our fearless leader Kelly Carrithers who kept everything on track and made a most welcoming event for new and current residents. Over 100 folks attended and got to know their fellow neighbors and hear all about all the goings on in Blue Ridge. If you run into a new family, but sure to stop by and say hello!
With October now passed, I would be remiss without thanking Jen Henninger for putting on yet another fun adults night out at our annual Oktoberfest and Jamie Smith, Karen Bombino, and Cat Burns for making this year’s Halloween party our most successful one yet! What a fabulous time everyone had at the party to meet with our neighbors young and old before venturing out into some blustery weather for many treats along the route. Thank you all for your amazing service and efforts to make Blue Ridge events so great. Many of you were able to get some fantastic pictures courtesy of our photographer-neighbor extraordinaire, Cathy Farrar. Feel free to visit our Flickr web site for those pics along with those from the Summer Fiesta. Pictures are available for all and you are welcome to download for your personal use at no cost.
Many have heard about the Tom Douglas cooking class fundraiser that will be happening for a select group of folks. Those of you who were able to register and get a spot, the menu for the cooking class has now been released. You’ll have cooking demonstrations and some hands on work with our fellow neighbor Tom and he’ll be showcasing the following items:
- Fennel Tarts
- Seafood Chowder
- Parsley Scones
- Cornmeal Rosemary Cake with Lemon Glaze
- Perfect Martinis
Be sure to get to arrive at the Hotel Andra no later than 6:30pm and come hungry! Everything cooked will be for the tasting. We are sold out for this fundraiser but if you want to get on the waiting list, please email email@example.com. Event will be on Tuesday, November 10 and all proceeds will be returned to our Woodbine Park fundraising efforts.
And with colder nights, that means it’s time to socialize indoors! Bunco Night returns to the clubhouse on Friday, November 20. It’s a $5 buy in and no experience is required! Come hang out with the ladies, bring a snack and beverage to share, and spend a fun evening chatting with your fellow neighbors.
Lastly, with Fall here, you know that means we’re not in planning mode for Holiday activities! Caroline is looking forward to scheduling a time to decorate the clubhouse following Thanksgiving and Cat Burns will be chairing Holiday Open House. Both would LOVE any and all assistance with their events! Contact Caroline at firstname.lastname@example.org or Cat at email@example.com.
Until next time,
